The Dangers of the "Knut Hole"

One of the dangers here in Liberia is not what you may expect. It is the Knut Hole. OK, I am not sure who made the name up, either me or one of my friends here, but it has to do with a guy named Knut falling in one.

These are open holes in the sidewalk, that anyone could easily fall into...


What is really bad, one of the worst "Knut Holes" is in the driveway of Monrovia City Hall, and it is across the street from UN Headquarters.


Sometimes they are marked for safety with a rock or two...


I wonder how guys like this can manuver on these sidewalks safely, but they do.
